Draymond Green Supports The First Tee of the East Bay

THE FIRST TEE OF THE EAST BAY WELCOMES DRAYMOND GREEN

Golden State Warriors Forward to work with Oakland and Hayward youth development and character education program that teaches life lessons through golf

The First Tee of the East Bay is proud to announce that the NBA Champion Golden State Warriors forward Draymond Green has joined TFTEB, a positive youth development program that teaches life lessons and character education through golf to inspire and motivate underserved and at-risk youth.  In addition, Green will also work with TFTEB to learn how to play golf and develop his skills.

On December 24, 2015, at the Warriors Practice Facility in Oakland, TFTEB program participants presented Green with a set of Nike golf clubs to get him started.

“We heard Draymond had an interest to learn to golf, so we came by to get him started!” said April Kenyon, The First Tee of the East Bay’s Executive Director.  “We are absolutely thrilled to have Draymond working with our youth to bring voice to The First Tee’s Nine Core Values which is what anchors our programming.  We are a character education program that teaches life lessons through golf so Draymond’s passion to work with at-risk and underserved youth is a perfect fit for us.  His participation will have a profound impact on our youth”

“Partnering with The First Tee of the East Bay is a great opportunity for me,” said Green. “I have a passion to reach underserved kids, and want to give back to the Oakland and Hayward communities to let them know that no matter where they start in life they can achieve their dreams.  The First Tee’s Nine Core Values is a perfect fit to teach young people, through golf, skills they can use for a lifetime.  And while I can spend time with them talking about the Nine Core Values, I’m really excited to have the chance to learn and understand the game of golf from them.”

Green’s partnership with The First Tee of the East Bay will include making appearances at TFTEB participating schools, working with the students at program locations and supporting local TFTEB fundraising efforts.  Look for Green’s social media @Money23Green to support TFTEB’s effort to generate corporate support, individual donations as well as recruit coaches and volunteers.
